In our playroom we have an inch high door on the skirting board where the fairies live and come out to play when we're asleep. Our little girls love to leave pictures and messages for them and sometimes the fairies leave them messages in return. I'm anticipating squeals of delight when they discover what they have left for them tonight.
The cookies are impossibly simple to make as long as you don't mind getting your fingers a bit dirty, they'd be fun to make with children and give to friends as a gift.
You start of with a small bag full of soil, if it's dry add a small amount of water to make it a bit sticky.
Next add a whole packet of seeds, I used a mixture of summer annuals.
To pretty it up a bit I collected a few petals from the garden and snipped them into small pieces then added them to the mixture.
Next comes the fun bit, take handfuls of the mixture and squeeze quite firmly into balls, then flatten down a little so they look a bit like small cakes.
Leave them on a windowsill for a few hours to harden a bit, then you can package them. I sprinkled them with some glitter to add a bit of fairy magic and put them in a cellophane bag and threw in a few sparkly sequins for good measure. Tie it up with some pretty ribbon and a tag with the following instructions.
Find a lovely sunny spot.
Dig a hole for each cookie about 5cms apart and place each cookie in.
Cover and water well and often.
Wait for the fairies to do their magic and see your beautiful flowers grow.

I think these are a lovely treat for children, but would also make a good gift for mothers day.
