The Party Pirate offers plastic straw alternative
Bath based party retailer The Party Pirate, has joined the growing number of local eateries in pledging to reduce the use of single use plastics by removing all plastic straws from sale on it’s website. Instead The Party Pirate has a large range of paper straws on offer in various colours and patterns.
Owners Caron Elgey and Emma Smith who have been running the children’s party website for over 6 years say that paper straws have always been a popular party choice because of their fun retro look, but now more than ever the purchase of paper straws can be a conscious decision to help reduce plastic waste.
They have received several comments from customers recently who have chosen to order their party supplies from The Party Pirate website mainly due to the fact they they were able to buy paper straws from them too instead of having to use plastic straws or plastic bottles. They noted that while many of the large supermarkets sell basic ranges of party ware, it can still be quite tricky to track down paper straws to buy. They hope by offering a large range of paper straws, it will encourage parents to choose this option for their children’s birthday parties.
As busy mums themselves, Caron and Emma have set out to make the party planning process less stressful by providing a store that offers everything you need for your child’s party. They are continually looking for ways to improve their service and offer more products that have less impact on the environment, they have also opted not to sell helium filled balloons as this is a precious finite natural resource that is vital for MRI scanners, instead they offer a large choice of traditional latex and air-filled foil balloons.
